Pineapples

The Pineapple, imported from the Caribbean, was a rare delicacy on the tables of the early Charles Towne colonists. The pineapple’s aroma and interesting flavor made the expensive fruit a symbol of the spirit of hospitality and was extensively used in eighteenth century decorative art. This tradition continues today with this attractive fruit carved, cast and painted in many traditional and modern motifs. Wearing a pineapple embodies the long-established southern character of warmth and kindness.
